About the Journal
The Research Competence is a multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed, open-access journal for teenagers. We welcome submissions from all disciplines, valuing fundamental research competence, education, and encouragement over groundbreaking novelty.
We focus on seeing the potential in every author and paper. Regardless of a project's scope or the student's experience, our goal is to support academic development, build an academic community, and provide experience in the publication process to prepare them for their journey as future scholars.
Given the journal’s teen-focused scope, we discourage politically, religiously, or socially sensitive topics.
- The Research Competence doesn't charge an APC (Article Processing Charge).
- Submissions for Volume 02, Issue 01 will open in March 2026.
Current Issue
Multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed, open-access journal for teenagers
This inaugural issue is dedicated to helping teenagers experience the joy of inquiry and to cultivating their potential as emerging researchers. Our mission is to spark intrinsic motivation and support the development of essential research competencies.
We received 23 submissions for this inaugural issue, all of which were subjected to a careful double-blind peer review. The review process was dynamic, involving first-round acceptances as well as multiple rounds of revisions and resubmissions. Out of this competitive pool, four papers were finally featured in this publication.
Committed to continuous improvement, we strive to set a standard of excellence through rigorous yet developmentally appropriate evaluation that fosters youth research capabilities.
